My very first dog came into
my life one month before my birth; I grew up with Till, an english
setter descending from the well known Crismani's bloodline; after Till
came Lampo della Marciola, another english setter. I had so much fun
with him and I remember many wonderful afternoons I spent with him
and my father to teach him how to catch.
Finally, my first borzoi
appeared into my life when i was ten years old; I still remember and
take into my heart as a precious memory the first sight he gave me, that
little puppy looked at me as all borzoi do, full of love and a bit
curious of the young girl I was.
Zar died at ten years of
age and after his loss I dreamed a long time about another borzoi. It
has been mostly the destiny working for another appointment... I was
studing for my last exam to graduate in a spring day on 1991 and
suddendly a borzoi puppy appeared running under my window...to make
short the story, I graduated and with the first money I earned I bought
this puppy's litter brother.
I called him Sacha; he
was not a show dog, but he made me more and more involved in the
breed and I started studing and looking for as many information as
possible about borzoi. That was not easy, the world wild web was still a
bit far and looking for books or for contacts with breeders was taking
lot of time.
Sacha died early for a
car accident and after him arrived my foundation bitch, Irina del
Marchese di Rhieti and some months after my unforgettable BIS MCh.
Rajalinjan Iceman.
In a first time I had no
plans about breeding, I was only wishing enjoing this wonderful breed
and sharing my life with....but, thanks to the precious support of a
wonderful friend as Minna Saarinen, I bred my first litter out of Iceman
and Irina and after that I realized I liked breeding!!
Other litters came, nice
wins at dog shows too and I became more and more enthusiast.
On 2002 my kennel has
been officially approved and registered by Italian Kennel Club and by
International Cynological Federation, but I dot consider myself as a
breeder. In my opinion a breeder is a person who has built his own
bloodline during the years, whose dogs are easily to determine because
of fixed qualities and even faults, I'm still enough far from.
Anyway, after I decided
about breeding borzoi I moved to the country side to have more space for
my dogs; actually all my dogs live in strict contact with me and part of
my home is only for them. They also have a fenced area of about 2000 mq
where they can move, running and playing daily.
My ideal borzoi starts
from a good temperament, I would never admit an aggressive, nervous, or
shy borzoi into my breeding program nor into my life.
Then comes function:
borzoi is a hound dog and he must be able to run fast and to catch, that
means good body lenght, angulations, good neck, functional topline.
I'm very strict about
borzoi head; borzoi head has a function too, it has to be aerodynamical
that means good proportions.
Last but not least,
living in the country made me descovering I like so much gardening.. I
love english roses and syringa ( lilac) and guess what? .. Granduke
Nikolai Nikolaievitch has been also a successfull lilac hybridator..
let's say it's a matter of casualness....
